Flood reasons?
I note with interest the article in the Chronicle regarding potential plans to create a flood storage system at either Kensington Meadows, Bathampton Meadows or Batheaston. There would appear to be a growing body of opposition voicing concerns about possible changes to the land involved.
As always B&NES is pushing ahead with enthusiasm. Of course it wouldn't have anything to do with removing flood plain status from the Recreation Ground, or would it? Thus removing any objections from the Environment Agency to any possible future development of The Rec by Bath Rugby? Once again this is valuable green open space to the residents in the locality of each of these sites and they are right to voice their concerns. I urge them to fight and pull the plug on the council. It would seem that yet again our council is bending over backwards to facilitate the aims of the rugby club at the expense of the citizens of Bath.

“Oh dear Keith McG, what is that phrase? Something to do with straws and clutching!”

“Of course! I see it all now! Bath Rugby were to blame for the extreme winters of 1947, 1963 and 1982. They can also be blamed for the flooding in Bath during the '60s, the hurricane winds during the '80s, but I doubt if they had much influence on the glorious Summer of 1976!”

“Good Heavens - is there no end to the conspiracy theories the Fiends of the Rec will come up with?”
