Flood warning issued for South Devon Coast

A flood alert warning has been issued by the Enivornment Agency for the coastal and tidal areas between Plymouth and Lyme Regis, including Exmouth, Budeligh and Dawlish.

The heaviest rain will fall on the South West tonight with more than an inch (30mm) forecast from 6pm tonight to 6am tomorrow.

After the heavy rain of the past few weeks, the Exeter-based Met Office issued a yellow warning for rain throughout the South West.

The Enivronment agency issued the following warning on Friday afternoon:

The forecast wind strength is Force 8. Times of high tide will vary along the coast. Conditions will usually apply 2-4 hours either side of high tide. High tide levels combined with forecast rainfall on Saturday morning may cause some surface water and river flooding where water is not able to drain away.
