Fresh air a good antidote to all the TV repeats
TODAY'S technology is such that we can watch TV at our convenience. It's on your phone, on demand and on your computer. Then there are all the repeats. Despite all this, companies still deem it necessary to put on an omnibus edition of their soaps on Sunday.
Again this week there have been calls by the Adam Smith Institute to scrap the TV licence fee and make the BBC a subscription-only service. Half of all the programmes broadcast in the UK are repeats or imports. So I think that me photocopying last year's TV licence and only watching the repeats makes a valid argument in court. Who's with me?

tingling toes: Dipping my feet in the River Otter
Sunday means getting fresh air, and I don't mean watching Emmerdale with the living room window open. We drove the B3199, just past Maidencombe, to walk the coast path. It's hard enough in places to negotiate the overgrown hedgerows, but doing a hop, skip and jump over dog's mess doesn't help. This week it was revealed that, although some dogs may look like their owners, ALL dogs imitate us. So who's setting the bad example here?
After wiping our shoes we headed to Babbacombe for cream tea. Stacy had the cheese scone with pickle and I opted for the ginger scone with lashings of ginger preserve, both washed down with Earl Grey.
Summer brings plenty of outdoor activities in Devon and one of my favourites is the Folk Festival in Sidmouth. We were there on Monday and on the promenade I jigged behind the morris dancers like Michael Flatley in flip-flops before deciding it was time to move on to somewhere people wouldn't recognise me.
Down the road at Otterton we walked alongside the river Otter towards Budleigh Salterton. I stopped to scare the fish by dipping my toes in the water.
All this exercise is good for your health and, after hearing this week that a study proved beer helps you lose weight, I thought it wise to pick up my fitness regime. We stopped at a pub in Newton Poppleford and after an hour I felt as healthy and as thin as a newt. Stacy drove home. There I slouched in front of the TV to watch… I can't remember. But it'll probably be on again tomorrow. Ciao.
