This is Exeter

FRIENDS of Exeter soldier Carlo Apolis who was shot dead in Afghanistan this week have said goodbye to him.

His tearful girlfriend Rebecca Williams and several of his former work colleagues at Exeter's Devon Hotel were among the hundreds who lined the High Street in Wootton Bassett for his repatriation procession.

Rifleman Apolis, 28, was shot while on foot patrol in Sangin on Monday.

And in what has become an increasingly familiar sight for the Wiltshire town, the Union flag-draped coffins of Rifleman Apolis and three other serviceman killed in the last six days, stopped in front of the war memorial.
