GREEN LIGHT FOR CHEAPEST ROUTE
CAMPAIGNERS say they are disgusted by a decision to press ahead with a link road which they say will do little to alleviate Crediton's air quality problems.
Devon County Council backed proposals for the hillside route at a cabinet meeting last week.
The £7.75m route is expected to carry nearly 5,000 vehicles a day and was given the green light in line with officers' recommendations and with proposed amendments to the junction at the northern end.
Campaigners who want the £10m valley route — because it will take traffic further away from the town centre — have vowed to fight on.
