A TEENAGER is taking on a tough white-water challenge in memory of his grandfather, a former Exeter school teacher.

Zak Bennett, 15, from Copplestone, is raising money for the Royal Devon & Exeter's Clyst ward, which specialises in looking after those who have suffered a stroke, by paddling the 19-mile Exe Descent between Tiverton and Exeter on Sunday, November 11.

His grandfather, Bill Bennett, who was cared for in Clyst ward, died recently aged 82.

Mr Bennett was a maths, English and PE teacher at Broadclyst and Exeter's old John Stocker School.
