Firefighters were called to a thatched house in Tiverton yesterday following reports of a fire.

Crews from Tiverton and Witheridge attended the property in Templeton Bridge at around 9.45pm.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a fire on the ground-floor of the property in the lounge area. No thatch was involved in the fire.

Crews used two hose reel jets, one covering jet, two thermal imaging cameras and four sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.

Fifty per cent of the ground floor of the property was damaged by fire.
