Grow your own tasty veg in our great Big Project III
HAPPY new year to all our Green Teams – and let's start the new year off with a bang and register for the Big Project III.
It is really worth entering as there is a top prize of £1,000 and two runners-up prizes of £500 each, making it our biggest competition to date.
-

It is being generously supported by our Green Team sponsor, Gregory Distribution.
Called Seeds In, Veg Out, the project aims to involve not just Green Team members but every pupil in school as we are asking you to plant, grow, reap and cook a meal and compost any waste.

The more adventurous the menu, and wholesome the food, the better.
Green Teams will need to keep a start-to finish record and it will involve not just the keen gardeners but designers as well, as we want you to design sustainable tablecloths, napkins and decorations to show off your meal to perfection. You can even design sustainable furniture on which to dine!
Growing needs to include the whole cycle – composting, perhaps a sustainable water supply, crop protection, crop nutrition, environmentally friendly pest control (or none at all, if you wish).
The project will need to be presented either electronically or in the form of a project folder/file, including as many drawings, or children's photos of the process, as you like. Everything has to be written (by hand or electronically) and compiled by the children! (Include all the bright ideas from 'blue sky thinking' sessions which you don't necessarily end up using.)
To take part you must register by January 21.
If you must choose to plant later (autumn/winter) cropping vegetables, that's fine, but you will need to show the same detail, other than the cropping. You can discuss how the final dishes can be made up in this case.
The Big Project III is running until June 14.
The judges will decide the winner by June 21 and there will be presentations to the winner and runners-up in Exeter's historic Guildhall during the first week of July.
To register simply send an e-mail headlined Big Project 3 to sally.fryer@exeter.gov.uk
Completed entries can be either emailed or posted, or dropped in to Oakwood House, Exton Road, Exeter EX2 7NR by June 14 – the final day!
