Haley hits two as University go second
Olympian Ian Haley scored twice as University of Exeter soared to second in England Hockey Men's Conference West at the weekend.
Haley – an integral part of South Africa's team at London 2012 – opened the scoring in the tenth minute as the Greens won 3-1 at Whitchurch.
Although the Cardiff hosts replied through Nick Rees to make it 1-1 at half time, Haley had not finished.
Exeter regained the lead through an own goal on the hour and seconds later Haley struck again to secure victory.

A 1-1 draw between pace-setters Team Bath Buccaneers and Guildford means they go into a two-week break third and fourth respectively.
Exeter move up to second, a point behind new leaders Cardiff and UWIC, ahead of a November 11 return to league action against sixth-placed Havant at the University Sports Park (12.30pm).
Isca University remain second in Women's Conference West following their fine 4-2 home win over Staines and another outstanding player-of-the-match performance from summer import Carla Dunnett.
Once again, free-scoring skipper Claire Thomas played a major role in the Isca success with two more goals.
Thomas converted Zoe Burrell's cross to open the scoring after four minutes.
Zoe Shephard levelled but Burrell restored Isca's advantage three minutes later, before Staines scored again to make it 2-2 at half-time.
Tam Pascoe's 42nd-minute penalty corner strike restored Isca's lead and three minutes later Thomas claimed her second of the game and ninth League goal of the season to stay top of the Conference scoring charts.
Isca's next League match is at seventh-placed Barnes Hounslow Ealing on Saturday, November 10.
Unbeaten Isca men maintained their winning start by edging a 2-1 home Davis Wood Hockey League Premiership result over last season's runners-up University of Exeter A.
It was Isca's fifth successive League win.
Isca suffered a 10-0 Men's Cup third-round knock-out at England Hockey League Men's Premier Division basement side Surbiton.
Yeovil and Sherborne were knocked out 12-1 at by Men's Conference East side Bromley and Beckenham.
Isca return to League action at fifth-placed Plymouth Marjon on Saturday (UCP Marjon new pitch, 2pm).
After a two-week break, the West Clubs' Women's Hockey League resumes on Saturday with a full programme of matches.
