Harvey steps up following successful year
EXETER youngster Harvey James is celebrating a year of success after lifting two regional titles and coming fifth in the national standings.
The nine-year-old claimed the South West title aboard his 50cc KTM in November, having already won the six-round West of England Championship in the summer.

Father Steven explained that Harvey has been racing since he was six and, with his seven-year-old brother Finely also showing plenty of promise in the sport, there is clearly a rich motorsport pedigree within the family.
"I bought Harvey his first bike for his fifth birthday and he absolutely loved it," said Steven.

"When I was young I always wanted to race but my father wasn't having any of it so I couldn't, so when Harvey was old enough and wanted to give it a go I went out and bought him a bike.
"He has decided that he wants to do it as a career. Finley is also very good but not as competitive as his brother, although he does enjoy getting stuck in.
"When Harvey has a bad race then everyone knows about it. He usually goes out and wins the next race after that."
As for the 2013 race programme – which starts with a race this month in Newton Abbot – Harvey will be making the step up to a geared 65cc machine and competing in the South West and West of England events.
However, as Steven explained, he would be sacrificing the National Championship in order to gain more experience on his new bike.
"We are not doing the nationals this time around – we just think it's asking a bit much of him," he said.
"He is stepping up to a geared bike so we just want to concentrate on the other two (championships) for the moment and see what happens."
Steven is always on the lookout for sponsorship for Harvey and Finley. Should anyone be interested, they can contact Steven on 07811 527620.
