Huge demand for places at Exeter Medical School
The University of Exeter Medical School has received nearly 15 applications for every place on its first medical degree programme which starts in 2013. The applications deadline closed on October15, by which time Exeter had received 1,770 applications for the 120 places on its course.
The number of applicants to the University of Exeter Medical School is more than the total for the last round of applications for the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (PCMD). PCMD was demerged this year and the University of Exeter Medical School is an outcome of that demerger.
Professor Steve Thornton, Dean of the University of Exeter Medical School, said: "The University of Exeter Medical School has built on our success in medical education and research as PCMD and this, combined with the University of Exeter's reputation for excellence, has made the medical school extremely attractive to new students."
