Hunt ban is popular piece of legislation
SADDENED as I am that we continue to receive reports of illegal hunting some four years after the ban, I would like to point out that the law on hunting is perfectly clear.
Hunters know very well the activities that lie within the law and those that do not. Those who continue to flout it are being brought to book, as evidenced by the prosecutions under the Hunting Act.
Hunt monitors do an excellent job in difficult circumstances. Their efforts must be supported by vigorous enforcement of the Hunting Act.
Seventy-five per cent of the population support the ban on fox-hunting and our focus continues to be to work with the police and the CPS to ensure this good, clear and popular legislation is properly enforced.
