IAN Binding and Keith Williams teamed up to win the fourth and final qualifier for the men's Winter Foursomes at Tiverton on Saturday.

The pair posted an excellent medalford score of 11 to finish two clear of Pete Guest & John Stuckey and Neil Forward & Ced Gibbons. Binding and Williams had already booked their place in the knockout stages by virtue of finishing fourth in the first qualifier at the end of October.

Joining them in the last 32, along with Guest & Stuckey and Forward & Gibbons are Lloyd Sampson & Lee Davey, Roger Millett & Dave Horn, Roger Stevens & Paul Bayley.

Last year's champions, John Hanson & Steve Garland are also there, along with Nobby Clarke & Richard Colman and Mike Hurley & David Hazlewood.

Binding & Williams will take on Rhys Cruse & Phil Moulding in the first round this weekend. Hanson & Garland begin the defence of their title against juniors Eddie Sangster & Harry Callahan.

Norman Fleet won the veterans' Duckworth Salver event at Tiverton. The 21-handicapper fired 40 stableford points to pip Mike Hurley on countback.

Results: 1 Norman Fleet (40); 2 Mike Hurley (40); 3 David Hazlewood (38); 4 Dave Jack (37); 5 Roger Norton (36); 6 Duncan Ferrier (36).

Experienced pair Ray Williams and Duncan Hepburn won Padbrook Park's qualifier for the Daily Mail Foursomes. Their score of 73.5 edged out Andy Rooker and Merv Brealy by one shot. Defending champions Mark Freemantle and Phil Yolland were half a shot further back.
