Inspiring concert
INSPIRATIONAL modern choral music is being performed at Exeter Cathedral this weekend by the Exeter Festival Chorus.
Led by musical director Nigel Perrin, the choir will be giving one of the South West's first performances of Howard Goodall's Eternal Light tomorrow night.
Howard is a composer of many well-known TV themes, including The Lord is my Shepherd, the theme tune to the Vicar of Dibley, and Blackadder. He has a strong local link with Exeter being a former pupil of Exeter School.
Also in the programme are three other fascinating works from recent years, including Song for Athene, written in 1993 by John Tavener as a tribute to Athene Hariades, a young actress and family friend killed in a cycling accident.
Tickets for the concert, starting at 7.30pm, cost £22 (£20), £17 (£15) and £12 (£10). For details call 01392 432309 or 667080, or visit www.exeterfestivalchorus.org.uk.
