Investigation of death continues
THE police watchdog is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of city man Thomas Orchard who died after being taken into police custody.
The 32-year-old, who worked at St Thomas Church in Cowick Street, Exeter, was arrested following a disturbance and taken into police custody but died in hospital a week later on Wednesday, October 10.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission said Mr Orchard suffered "serious head injuries" and launched an investigation.
