Investigation after man struck by train

A man was killed when he was struck by a Westcountry train in the early hours of the morning.

The accident happened at Powderham, Devon, just before 12.30am yesterday.

It is thought the man who died was in his 40s, but no further information has been released.

British Transport Police said it was investigating, but the incident is not believed to be suspicious.

The train which struck the man was the 11.41pm service from Paignton to Exeter St Davids.

The man was on the Powderham footpath crossing between Starcross and Exminster at the time.
