Isca radio station's work earns national accolade
SECONDARY school pupils have won a national award for their radio station.
Isca College of Media Arts in Exeter has won the Sony Award for school radio for Isca Radio, set up in July.

It got the documentary and feature award for a documentary produced by pupils entitled Food for Thought.
The school will receive a trophy and a prize of Sony equipment to the value of £750 to improve the radio station.

It has also been given the chance to use a studio provided by Clyde Broadcast Products.
The winning pupils were Hattie Drinkald, Rachel Hunter, Joe Kidd, Daniel Heath, Hazel Gibbens, Conor Beswick and Josh Tucker. They were guided and mentored by media arts technician Daniel Smith. Mr Smith has been invited to the national Sony Radio Awards' dinner alongside star performers from commercial radio and the BBC.
The winning pupils have been invited to a boardroom lunch at the headquarters of Sony UK in the new year.
For their programme, they interviewed food industry professionals, the school nurse, the public, Isca students and the executive head chef of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant at Watergate Bay in Cornwall. Principal Mandi Street said: "It is a fantastic achievement to win such an award."
