EXETER jeweller and former St Loye's College trainee Ivor Doble is backing his old college in the Great West Run tomorrow.

Mr Doble was a young trainee in the horology department at St Loye's College in 1946. His work was so good he was top of his class and taking in watches at the college for repair.

Ivor said: "I have many memories of my time at St Loye's. I wish the team the very best of luck. I hope they raise a lot of money."

Team St Loye's is collectively running over 90 miles in the half-marathon, or 5k race. Helen Trebble, of St Loye's Foundation Events, said: "Thanks to Mr Doble's generous sponsorship for the team running vests and public donations, the team has smashed its £1,000 fundraising target.

"Money raised from the run will fund projects which enable people to achieve their work ambitions, gain sustainable employment and build a better life ."

Team St Loye's runners will be wearing yellow running vests with the Ivor Doble logo. To sponsor the team visit www.justgiving.com/teamstloyes.
