ALL that glitters is not gold at a stately home near Exeter.

Rather it is jewels, sparkling semi-precious stones and some fascinating glass on show at Killerton House.

Baubles, bangles and bright shiny beads mix with necklaces, brooches, hatpins, rings and tiaras in an exhibition at the National Trust property until the end of October.

Experts are on hand to show how the exhibits are stored and cared for.

A Killerton spokesman said: "The displays explore concepts of elegance over three centuries of fashion.

"We show how people have dressed to impress from the 1770s to the 1970s. Whether pared down to the simplest, most stylish elements, or glittering with beading, elegant clothing is never cluttered, and always in good taste."
