Large sedated cow removed from slurry pit near Okehampton
A large cow was sedated before being rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped in a slurry pit at Merton, near Okehampton.
A specialist rescue team was drafted in and initially used a gas detection monitor to check for harmful gases that can be found incidents involving slurry, however none were detected.

Once the cow had been sedated by a local vet the specialist rescue team used specialist rescue equipment and farm machinary to rescue the cow to a place of safety.
