EXETER City conceded a goal five minutes from time to crash out of the FA Cup at the second round stage on Sunday.

The two sides – who sit next to each other in the South West Combination table – played out the competitive cup tie at Devon FA's Coach Road ground in Newton Abbot.

Despite going a goal down, City led 2-1 thanks to goals from Kirsty Caunter and Tash Knapman. But the Robins' Abby Picton hit a hat-trick – before later being dismissed for kicking out – to send the Grecians packing.

"The cup tie had everything – chances, goals, a sending off. It was a great cup tie, but we're very disappointed to have lost," said manager Steve Tully.

"But there's a lot of positives to take. It's good experience, we've had a good run, and it's the first time we've been to the second round of the FA Cup, so we'll dust ourselves down and move onto next weekend."

Exeter trailed three minutes in as Picton nodded home, only for Knapman to set up Caunter from Leah Brooks' corner.

Caunter then turned provider as her corner came off the bar, only for Knapman to apply the finishing touch for 2-1, but Picton struck twice more to win it.

Feniton beat Exeter & Tedburn Rangers 4-0 in the Westward Developments Devon League Premier Division.

Goals from Stef Matthews (2), Jess Jenkins and Shannon Toogood saw Feniton home. Exmouth Amateurs lost 2-1 to University of Plymouth, with Beth Rawlings scoring.

Seaton Town beat Budleigh & Bicton Robins 4-0 in Division One. Jemima Coleman (2), Tara Arnott and Adele Foxwell scored.
