I DRIVE past West Exe School in Cowick Lane every weekday afternoon and see two men picking up the rubbish the children have dropped in the lunchbreak.

It makes me so angry that these men have to do such a demeaning job, condoning the fact that children can drop their litter. I was taught never to drop litter and I passed this rule on to my three children from an early age.

Surely if the children are allowed to spread their rubbish in the school grounds, they should be made to collect it up after lunch and not pay two grown men to do it for them.

If pupils drop rubbish just a few feet away on the other side of the school fence they are committing a crime, likewise it is a surely a crime to do so inside the school gates.

I think this should be lesson one on a Monday morning.
