THOUSANDS of people on a council's housing waiting list have registered with a new system.

East Devon District Council completed the move in January from the district's Choice Based Lettings Scheme to Devon Home Choice.

It says that since writing to all those using the former system, more than 1,350 registrations to the new system had been submitted.

Dennis Boobier, the district council's housing needs manager, said: "Overall we are pleased with how well the re-registration process went before we went live at the end of January."
