Lucas claims a healthy victory

BARRY Lucas caught 45lb 6oz to beat 20 other anglers and win the latest league match at KiaOra.
Fishing maggot over micro at five and nine metres, Lucas caught eight carp after breaking a thin layer of ice at peg 14.
Runner up was Brian Sussex with 38lb 12oz from peg 10, just ahead of Roly Palmer with 37lb 10oz from peg 20.

Despite ice covering three quarters of the lake, plenty of fish were caught. Peg 19 fished well for Steve Haymen as he landed 14 carp, while Duncan Hill won the final section from open water peg 26 – he caught on the pole and method feeder with a total of 31lb.

Bill Cassar became senior shore champion at the Sidmouth Sea Angling 2012 awards.
The event, held at the club's headquarters on Sidmouth seafront, saw Karl Robers named senior boat champion.
