TIVERTON and Honiton MP Neil Parish has backed pressure group BUAV's No Cruel Cosmetics campaign to end animal testing for toiletries and cosmetic products sold in the EU.

The campaign was launched in response to concerns over a delay to the 2013 EU ban on the import and sale of animal-tested products.

The MP has joined more than 100,000 supporters of the BUAV's campaign by signing the No Cruel Cosmetics petition. He has also signed an Early Day Motion calling on the UK Government to ensure that the EU-wide ban is upheld. He said: "Unlike testing for medical or scientific reasons, the testing of beauty products is an ethical issue; pure and simple.

"There is no justifiable reason for allowing cosmetic products tested on animals to be sold to consumers in this country."
