Miss Morris has said she apologised 'unreservedly' for the mistake, which was from a report on the local elections on June 8.
But Mr Authers, who stood as an independent candidate for Teignmouth Town, refused to accept her apology, saying: "Two weeks ago I thought it was a load of cobblers, but the damage has been done.
"As far as I am concerned a straightforward apology is not good enough. She overstepped the mark. To call me a communist is absolutely despicable."
Mr Authers, who is the director of Smilers Restaurant on Teignmouth seafront, added: "If people think I am a communist they will boycott the business.
"Some of our regular customers have not been coming into the restaurant and I thought it was down to the traffic jams."
Ms Morris has deleted the comment from her blog.
At 1.12pm she wrote: "It has been drawn to my attention that there was an error on my last blog entry in relation to the designation of the party allegiance of Colin Authers in my report of the county election results.
"I have corrected the error and apologise unreservedly to Mr Authers."
Miss Morris said she had copied the results from a report in another newspaper of the elections. The report was based on information supplied to the newspaper.
"I can understand that he is very upset. It was totally unintentional and I have taken that information off now."
