Magpies' offer for Walsh too good to reject
TIVERTON Town boss Martyn Rogers has revealed Dorchester Town's undisclosed bid for leading goalscorer Phil Walsh was too good to turn down.
The Yellows chief reluctantly agreed to sell the targetman to the Magpies last Friday and Rogers says the club made a 'decent' profit on a player he only signed himself three months ago.

The long-serving Ladysmead manager revealed he would have dismissed Dorchester's offer out of hand had Tivvy still been challenging for a Southern League Premier Division play-off spot.
But with any hopes of promotion in tatters following a recent dismal run of form and a generous offer on the table, Rogers was happy to get money for a player who he feared would have walked away for free in the summer.

"I didn't want him to go but everyone has got their price," said Rogers.
"The deal is okay for our club. I'm disappointed but Phil could have walked away for nothing at the end of April and it was the case that the deal was right for us. We made a profit. A decent profit.
"If we were still in the play-off situation it would have been a no-no, but we have dropped out of that and we weren't sure if Phil was going to stay. So in the end it was a no-brainer as far as we were concerned."
Rogers spent two-and-a-half years chasing Walsh's signature before finally snaring his man last December, when a loan deal from Newport County was made permanent for an undisclosed fee.
The Tivvy boss was delighted and hoped Walsh would fire his side into play-off contention.
But having struck 10 times during his earlier loan spell, the goals dried up for Walsh after he penned a six-month contract at Ladysmead and he only found the net a further four times, including one in the 5-0 Devon Bowl win over of Ivybridge.
