Man admits possessing more than 2,000 obscene photographs and movies of children, Exeter court hears
A 50-year-old man has admitted being in possession of almost 1,700 pornographic images and more than 600 obscene videos of children.
Keith Gibson, formerly of Milford Cottages, Kennford but now living in River Drive, Cullompton, pleaded guilty to 16 charges when he appeared before Exeter magistrates.
This included making 11 level five images of children - classed as the most obscene possible - and 38 movies at this level.
The offences occurred between August 2003 and June 2011.

They relate not only to making indecent images but possessing prohibited images and distributing indecent photographs.
One charge states that he made 791 indecent photographs at level one; 43 at level two; 403 at level three; 434 at level four and 11 at level five; and 29 movies at level one; 44 at level two; 138 at level threel 389 at level four and 38 at level five between August 8 2003 and June 29, 2011.
After pleading guilty, Gibson was told that magistrates did not believe they had sufficient powers to sentence him.
The case was committed to Exeter Crown Court for sentencing on January 17 and he was remanded on conditional bail.
