Man convicted of manslaughter has sentence reduced

An appeal against sentence was heard at the High Court yesterday, Monday, 25 June 2012, by Michael Bird who was convicted in December 2011 of the manslaughter of his partner Janine Tiley.

The offence took place in Exeter in July 2011.

The appeal was successful and Michael Bird’s sentence was reduced from nine years to six years eight months.

The victim’s family has been informed of this development.
