A pedestrian who was seriously injured following a collision with a car in Exeter has been named by police in the hope his family members will get in contact.

Richard Charles Towers remains in a critical condition in Derriford Hospital after suffering serious head and leg injuries in the incident on Wednesday evening.

The 48-year-old was rushed to hospital following the collision with a red Nissan Primera, outside the Vospers car garage on Marsh Barton Road, at around 6pm.

Police believe Mr Towers is from the Willeys Avenue area of Exeter.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “To date, extensive enquiries have failed to identify his next of kin.

“It is possible that his family originated from the Ottery St Mary area and that he may have relatives in Bournemouth or Spain.”

Anyone with information regarding Mr Towers is asked to contact 101, quoting log 576 of 150212.

Officers are also appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly the driver of a white car which was travelling towards Alphington Road.
