Marcus rows to indoor win
THE future is looking bright for two of Exeter Rowing Club's most talented athletes.
Following in the footsteps of Harriet Rawlings and Mel Moore, Exeter Rowing Club has another British indoor champion in the shape of Marcus Bowyer.
Taking part in the British Indoor Rowing Championships last Sunday, 16-year-old Marcus swept all before him in his J18 category with a time of 6.08.9, winning by more than eight seconds.
Marcus' stablemate Chris Humphreys also rose to the occasion and came fifth in a time of 6.26.9. Both youngsters were racing against older opponents.
A contingent of junior girls also raced at the event. Sophie Hutchings, 16, was the first Exeter girl home in just over eight minutes in the J18 category. Tom Clarke also travelled to the indoors event and put in a respectable time of 7.32.9 in the veteran age group.
