Masked ball raises funds for Exeter Lord Mayor's chosen charity

A masquerade ball has raised a £4,000 for an Exeter-based charity.

Exeter's Lord Mayor, Councillor Rob Newby, accompanied by the Lady Mayoress, hosted the Valentine's Masquerade Ball at Exeter Castle in aid of his chosen charity, Socops.

Charlotte Ward, regional finalist in the TeenStar Talent Competition, entertained guests and dinner was followed by an auction, a casino and dancing to well-known local band, Thick as Thieves and DJ Ben Fayter.

The Lord Mayor paid a special tribute to those who had helped make the evening such a success, including Exeter Castle, Timepiece, Cover Cupboard and Butlermaids, as well as the High Sheriff of Devon, Robin Barlow, the auctioneer for the evening.

The Lord Mayor, said: "I was delighted with the evening and the spirit in which everyone attended. Many had obviously gone to a lot of effort and the end result was that everyone had a fantastic evening whilst raising much needed funds for my charity."
