EXETER Chiefs full-back Josh Matavesi returned to training at Sandy Park yesterday after three weeks away with the Fiji national squad.

The 19-year-old made his international debut against Scotland two weeks ago before kicking nine points as Fiji beat Romania 29-18 on Saturday.

Matavesi last played for Exeter against Rotherham in October and has only appeared in four games for the Chiefs.

But, with two full caps under his belt, he will be hoping to feature at Doncaster on Saturday as the Championship returns following a two-week break.

Head coach Rob Baxter said: "Josh was back at the club yesterday and trained well. It's good to see him back."

Club captain Alan Miller is awaiting news of an X-ray on his injured ankle after being forced off early during the 15-0 defeat of Gael Force on Saturday.

Baxter said the club hoped the injury wasn't too serious and the flanker would not be out of action for long.

"We're hoping it's just sore more than anything else," said Baxter of Miller's injury.

"It was hurting him on Saturday so we brought him off, but hopefully it won't be too serious."

Prop Shane Kingsland returned to full training yesterday after recovering from a series of injuries.

The 23-year-old hasn't played yet this season after picking up a couple of knocks.

Baxter said: "How Shane comes through training this week will determine when he'll be available for selection again."

Meanwhile, Kingsland's fellow props Hoani Tui (broken arm) and Ruaidhri Murphy are on the road back.

Kiwi Tui is about three weeks away from a return and Murphy should be back in January.
