Meat doesn't come from freezer aisle
NIGEL George of Cardiff (A badger cull would devastate tourism, letters, July 20) is quite mistaken.
In his ill-thought-out letter, he proposes that a badger cull would have a devastating effect on Westcountry tourism, yet offers no direct correlation between the two.
He also states that he could not purchase from a pro-kill farmer. Where does he think his meat comes from? A plastic wrapper in the freezer aisle of the supermarket, I suppose. He would also do well to look at the real story behind mastitis and lame foot before committing his imagination to print.
The real scandal is not that the badger cull is happening, it is that it has not happened sooner. Or would Mr George like to see more British farmers go bankrupt and leave the already unjustly maligned industry? If a badger cull were to keep people like Mr George out of Devon, then let us not waste any more time than is necessary.

“They don't want you to see the letters Will. They would like to phase them off the web site”

“I keep seeing references to letters I haven't been able to read on the website because if you search for "letters" in the "I'm looking for" panel and then select "most recent" you seem to be shown only a selection - and not all are letters, and they also include letters and articles in other papers. Anybody know how to get around this?”

“Let's forget about emotive issues about furry animals etc. It is a shame that the badger cull wasn't done sooner (given that it now will be) because if it had been done four years ago we would all know by now that it hadn't worked (as it won't). And we could all be wasting our time posting about something else.”
