CARRYING the torch for new wave metal is a heavyweight task, and asking for fans' help is Exeter-based band Cambion.

The four-piece, who won Best Breakthrough Act at last year's South West Music Awards, have stormed straight into 2012 with a slot on the bill of their first major UK festival – the Metal Hammer/Classic Rock at Prestatyn in March, supporting headliners Anthrax.

In the meantime their next mission is to win the Red Bull Bedroom Jam – a national competition where people can vote for their favourite bands online, with the most popular bands being rewarded with slots at this year's top music festivals.

The eventual winning act will get to record at Red Bull Studios in London and land a touring support slot with a household name towards the end of the year.

Cambion, who have supported revered acts such as Blaze Bayley, Fozzy, The Defiled and Lethargy, have registered their live video of Death March, recorded at Exeter Phoenix.
