Housing developers have submitted a plan to build 150 homes on land west of Station Road, in South Molton.

The application, from Elan Homes, details plans to build 100 private properties, including 68 with four or more bedrooms, and 50 affordable homes, including six flats.

North Devon Council adopted a development brief for the site in 2008 but plans to build on the land stalled when developers David McLean Homes went into administration during a crash in the housing market. The firm has since been bought by Elan Homes, run by the same senior management team.

South Molton Town Council, which owns most of the land, signed a land option agreement with Elan in June 2010. A period of public consultation ends on January 27. The full plans can be viewed on the North Devon Council website www.northdevon.gov.uk
