Ofsted praises improvements
MASSIVE improvements have been made at an East Devon college, according to a recent Ofsted report
Education inspectors visited Bicton College, in East Budleigh, and found success rates had improved significantly and gave all subjects a good or satisfactory rating.
Inspectors said the proportion of learners achieving their qualifications was 84 per cent, above the national average.
The report said: "The college has strong, productive links with local schools and offers a broad range of vocational opportunities in sport and recreation, animal care, agriculture, horticulture, countryside and equine studies."
The college was also praised for its provision for pupils from local special schools. Inspectors said the college's responsiveness to local needs and use of links with a wide network of employers and the community was good.
Bicton College's principal, David Henley, said: "The report is a reflection of the dedication and hard work that staff, students and stakeholders at the college have made over the last four years.
"The inspection highlighted Bicton's commitment to its learners and its ability to be responsive to the needs of the local economy and employers.
"There is still much to be done but this Ofsted report is very encouraging. We are entering a very exciting time for the college."
