EXETER Chiefs have finally unveiled Samoan scrum-half Junior Polu as their 11th summer signing.

Polu — full name Aukusitino Poluleuligaga — has joined the Sandy Park side from Super 14 outfit Waikato Chiefs.

The 29-year-old's arrival comes after more than a month of waiting for his visa application to be confirmed. The Chiefs' latest signing brings a wealth of experience with him, having played in the top leagues in France and New Zealand, as well as enjoying an earlier spell with Harlequins in the English Premiership.

And Polu insists that his knowledge of the game will help him add a new dimension to the Chiefs' squad as he prepares to battle it out with Haydn Thomas and fellow countryman Garrick Cowley for the No. 9 jersey

He said: "I've been around for a while, played for a few teams around the world, so I have a lot of experience and leadership.

"I also bring a lot of enthusiasm as well and I am really excited to be at Exeter.

"It's an exciting time to come to the club and I guess it's made me even more hungry to play and do well.

"They have offered me a contract and I am determined to repay that faith they have shown in me.

"I had a short stint with Harlequins before, so the Premiership's not entirely new to me, but I am looking forward to playing in it again for the Chiefs."

Polu is still settling in at Sandy Park having only arrived in the city on Sunday.

But he says that his first impressions have all been positive. And he thinks the spirit among the players will set them up well for their first Aviva Premiership campaign.

"There is a lot of excitement about the place," said Polu.

"The whole place is pretty impressive, it's a real professional set-up. The coaching staff and players are all good guys and everybody seems ready to make that step up."
