Paul Tisdale refuses to moan about lack of spending power at Exeter City
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has ruled out the possibility of adding to his squad in an attempt to haul the Grecians away from the npower League One relegation zone.
City have gone four games without a goal and are a perilous two points above the bottom four ahead of tomorrow's clash with Sheffield Wednesday. Any hopes of a saviour being recruited to help their cause have been mooted by their boss, who says he has no money at his disposal, despite the sale of defender Scott Golbourne to Barnsley.

"There's no opportunity for me to do so, I'm afraid," Tisdale admitted. "I'm not coming to work expecting it, assuming it or hoping for it, because I know that's not the case. I have known for a long time what the parameters are being a manager at Exeter, I have been here long enough.
"I know what it's about and what restrictions we work under, so it's not something I'm concerned about. It's the nature of being a manager at Exeter that we have to be very financially astute and we don't go over budget. I'm not in a position to do anything at the moment because I've used every penny I can. I can't fashion money from nowhere."
Reduced attendances have seen a financial shortfall at St James' Park this season, with cutbacks being made across the board. Coaches Andy Tillson and Marcus Stewart have had to go part-time, while next season's budget will be slashed again, making Tisdale's task of ensuring Exeter are competitive in League One – if they stay up – that much harder.
"There will come a point soon when, if the crowds don't go back up and we stay where we are, we will have to readjust our financial expectations," Tisdale said. "That is the way it is. Right now, our attention is about staying in this league.
"We're not going to give up and we will continue to get value for our players, we will be spirited and apply ourselves to the point where we can be a solid League One club.
"We're having a patch where we haven't won as many games as we would like this season, but I think everyone is doing very well. I don't want new players, I want our players and I want them to do better."
Tisdale added: "Times are tough and people are losing jobs. People are having to watch what they spend their money on. The more they spend, the better the opportunity for us to put a better team on the pitch, but I'm very, very sensitive to how people spend their money."

“I've been a follower of ECFC for almost 30 years and my opinion is Paul Tisdale has been the best manager Exeter has had during these years. Mind you, I've watched from the 'sidelines' here in Canada most of the time but I do attend a few games a year.
Exeter is not a big money team and Tisdale is doing the best he can do. Fans should not be so fickle - we're not Premier league material (though we can tie Man U occasionally). If Exeter is your home (or your 'home away from home') ECFC is the team to support!”

“Great way to have a go at the supporters and the club by 'refusing to moan.' The fact is that supporters go to football matches to be entertained. This season it's been turgid and eventually people will decide they have better things to spend their cash on. The reason attendances are the lowest since the Conference is because this is the worst team we have had since then.
The buck stops with the manager who builds the team and decides how the money is spent. This season it's not been good enough and he whould accept responsibility for that. This smacks of getting the excuses in early before we slip into the relegation places.”
