Peppa Pig on stage
IT was difficult to imagine just how this show was going to work.
Children's icon, Peppa Pig brought to life as a puppet with the puppeteers also clearly visible on the stage.
I was ready for my two-year-old to start asking who they all were and what they were doing. But she didn't. Like the rest of the young audience she was captivated by the dynamic theatre of the production.
The puppeteers moved around the stage in sync with their characters and they all soon appeared as one.
It wasn't long before we all felt we were part of the story and the youngsters were solving puzzles and joining in with the songs.
It is a great family show and we are lucky in Exeter that the producers chose to premiere it at the Northcott.
The adaptation by director Richard Lewis is true to the brand of the BAFTA award-winning series, but also added something special.
Children can be harsh critics and when you are dealing with a character as popular as Peppa and her family you need to be sure to get it just right.
And that is just what they did. It was thoroughly entertaining and a great introduction to the theatre for youngsters.
The show is on today and tomorrow, at 10am, 1pm and 4pm.
Tickets cost £14.50, or £39 for a family of three. Details: 01392 493493.
