Person cut free after crash between lorry and car on Sandygate roundabout
Firefighters were called to a crash on Sandygate roundabout at 13:55pm today.
Control received a call reporting a road traffic collision at Sandygate Roundabout in which persons were trapped.
The collision involved a black Honda CRV and a yellow, dropside lorry on the multi-lane roundabout.
When crews arrived one person was still in one of the cars not physically trapped but with suspected neck and back injuries.

The crews carried out a controlled removal of the casualty using hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools and made the vehicles safe. Fast road coning was also used.
The crash caused queues on the M5, Sidmouth Road and across Sowton industrial estate.

Update:
Large traffic jams building up at Sandygate Roundabout, under junction 30 of the M5 after a collision involving a black Honda CRV and a yellow, dropside lorry.
Firefighters have been called in to remove roof of Honda to free occupants.
Police and fire services on the scene. Two Exmouth bound carriageways closed and expected to be shut for some time.
Long queues developing on Sidmouth Road and across Sowton industrial estate.

A crash on Sandygate roundabout is causing delays on all approaches and junction 30 of the M5.
The lanes were blocked due to the accident.
Three appliances are currently on the scene.
One driver, who has been stuck in the traffic for 20 minutes, described a car involved as "in a hell of a state."

fire stations and lay people off.”
