Heralded by Jools Holland as one of the best pianists of all time, Ben Waters' performances are sensational. Dubbed "The King of Boogie Woogie", he has been played by rock and roll legends Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Davies. Ben's star-studded tribute album to Ian Stewart (Boogie4Stu) featured all the Rolling Stones, Jools and PJ Harvey. He will be performing music from the album as well as an eclectic mix of seminal rock 'n roll, Boogie Woogie, blues and riproaring originals in this rare solo tour. On Sunday he performs at The Acorn in Penzance (01736 366077). Tickets £15 – 8pm start.

Symphony orchestra will perform popular classics

Join the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra for a romantic feast of Sibelius, Schumann and Rachmaninov in Plymouth's Guildhall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. The concert opens with the rousingly patriotic Finlandia by Sibelius – a work which was intended to reflect the emotions of an exile returning to his native land. The orchestra will then be joined by pianist Mark Cracknell for a performance of the popular Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor. It will conclude with Rachmaninov's best known and much-loved 2nd Symphony, in E Minor. Tickets from Vibes Music in Mayflower Street or on the door.
