Plenty of jungle fun live on stage
Westpoint
IF you wondered how the popular movie Madagascar was going to translate into a stage show – well the answer is brilliantly.
With a great cast, imaginative costumes and sets the show brought a great night of fun to Westpoint Arena as it started its four day run. And it wasn't just King Julien who enjoyed moving it as the audience clapped and danced along to the lively arena stage production, based on the blockbuster DreamWorks Animation movie.
The story centres on animals from New York's Central Park Zoo – including Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo – who find themselves on an unexpected journey to Madagascar.

Their humorous antics were complemented by the naughtily devilish plotting penguins who also escaped from the confines of the zoo.
The show faithfully followed the story from the first hit movie and did it with great imagination and flair.
The packed first night audience seemed to love every minute. And it was no wonder. There was some great singing, catchy tunes and dances – and some hilarious characterisations. It was a really enjoyable night out for all ages.
Westpoint is a great venue for musical theatre and it would be good to see more shows there – if they can crank up the heating.
