Police in Honiton report quiet festive holiday

Police in Honiton are reporting a largely crime-free festive holiday.

PCSO Phil Anning, said: "Christmas and New Year was a fairly quiet time in Honiton.

"On Christmas Eve a common assault was reported in the town centre involving man being grabbed and pushed against a wall, no injuries were caused and police are investigating this incident.

"Some time on Christmas Day a shed in the garden of a house in Rosemount Lane was entered and legs of lamb, a salmon and other frozen foods were stolen from the freezer."

In the early hours of Boxing Day PCSO Anning said police received a report of a domestic incident involving a man assaulting his female partner.

"The New Year was equally as quiet," he continued. "With only two crimes being recorded over the New Year celebrations.

"Shortly after midnight a teenage man was arrested for throwing fireworks into the street near to other members of the public. The male was later cautioned for the offence.

"A vehicle which was left with the keys in the ignition was stolen from the driveway of house in Kings Road. This vehicle was recovered later the same day after being involved in an accident near Chard.

"Police are currently still investigating this crime."
