Police develop Training Course in Exeter to safeguard Children from ‘internet dangers’
Devon and Cornwall Police have developed a 'safe-internet' training course for primary schools in Exeter.
The course guides attendees through the CEOP ‘think U know?’ suite of activities for children.

“With the internet being used for every aspect of our lives, it’s imperative that children are educated in its uses and safeguarded from its dangers” said community safety officer Julia Watton.
Some of Exeter’s primary schools already have specific teachers trained in this area, but the local policing team wants to offer the same opportunity to all schools.

“Having designated teachers trained in this subject enables each school to independently teach pupils the hazards associated with the internet and allow pupils to have a vital point of contact within the school” added Watton.
Representatives from Alphington, Whipton Barton, Ladysmith, St Leonard’s, Topsham, Montgomery, Countess wear, Willow Brook, St Nicholas and staff from Devon youth services attended.
The training was carried out ahead of ‘Safer Internet Day’ which is to be held on Tuesday 5th February.
