Police have warned of a door-to-door, gold-buying scam after a man talked his way into a woman's home and stole jewellery. Honiton officers have alerted residents after an unusual house burglary in the town on Tuesday, when a man knocked at the door of a house in Kings Terrace offering money for broken jewellery. After being invited in, he "took himself on a tour of the house", finding three heavy gold chain links before leaving when the woman refused to sell. She later discovered all the items were missing. A police spokesman said: "Police are aware that there have been numerous leaflet drops locally relating to gold buyers, offering "top prices".
