THE cost of a cup of coffee is coming down at an Exeter café.

The good news has come at the café operated by Exeter Leukaemia Fund in the Haematology Centre of the Royal Devon& Exeter Hospital.

Dale Edwards, chief executive, said: "We are very aware that a cancer diagnosis can have a very serious impact on the financial well-being of our patients.

"Two years ago the charity took the decision not to raise prices at Café ELF for as long as possible, regardless of increases in costs. Now ELF has gone further, reducing prices by an average of 10 per cent for the whole of 2013, due to the generosity of those who raise funds for ELF."

Paul Dupré, Café ELF manager, said: "I see many patients and their loved ones and it is a pleasure to serve them. Being able to reduce the cost of refreshments to patients is fantastic, as the café is a cornerstone of the work of the charity and as such never seeks to generate a profit."
