PRINCESSHAY bosses have moved to reassure shoppers after it emerged a hi-tech system is used to track footfall through the centre via signals from customers' mobile phones.

Information about pedestrian flows is used to monitor the popularity of certain areas, as well as to improve safety and security.

But centre managers have stressed that all information gathered about shoppers' movements is anonymous.

It comes after privacy campaign group Big Brother Watch raised concerns about the system, claiming shoppers had not been asked permission for the centre to collect the data.

The FootPath technology has been used in Princesshay since 2008.

Wayne Pearce, Princesshay centre director, said: "The system we use detects transmissions from mobile phones and locates those mobile phones in 3D space.

"At no time does this provide any personal information and that includes mobile phone numbers. At all times shoppers remain anonymous to us.

"The anonymous data we receive each week allows us to monitor footfall and the way in which shoppers use the centre.

"This in turn helps us make decisions on improving the mix of retailers, providing better service by deploying greater numbers of staff to meet shoppers' needs and helping avoid bottlenecks by improving the safety and layout."

Much of my knowledge of business is first hand.
I didn't say traders weren't suffering, I said it wasn't Land Securities' direct concern.
I think you'll find the traders are responsible for their own heating.

Ultimately, this is a significant digression from tracking people's mobile 'phones, isn't it.”

lol , cant help putting your self up there with your judgmental views can you , at no point have i minded a diffrent view , as i see it , it yourself that appears to mind having somone who wont nod and agree in all right places with your thoughts , and appears yourself that then involves standered of the english language , debate is somthing despite your self oponion of your own self acclaimed expertese , which you support by every statement try down trodden , belittle , and ridicule others who dont reach your high expectations ......as form of further trying think we should all agree with you ..... and that aint going happen
and you say land securities have to look after there selves , well go either end of the town and see the empty shops , and across from the centre you mention , and you will see without to much thought reqd even for your single mind , to see traders are suffering left right and centre and further more , may i suggest you go to land securities and earn your self some brownie points and recommend they lower the ceilings in their shops , cud earn there shareholders few extra pence a day in saving with the heating bill .......”

I know what I meant (it's what you mean that I'm struggling with).
Land securities are concerned for their tenants as that's how they make money for their shareholders - you look after your shareholders by looking after your core business: the rest of Exeter is not (directly) their concern, it;'s not a "personal decision" it's good business. Transposing that to the utilities is false as there is a world of difference between how you deal with a small number of clients compared to millions.
As for companies price fixing, that is still (ultimately) looking after their own interests, but such practices are illegal.
If you don't like someone disgreeing with your position, don't enter into a debate (see earlier comment). Complaining that someone does is rather pathetic. As for how you write, try using sentences that have a start middle and end that actually make a point. interminable soundbites often don't make sense. To be honest, I'm still trying to work out if your written english is really that bad, you are a wind-up or if it's the after effects of the night before.”

lol you really ought try cut bit of sarcasm out , see you still try this ..thats all i understood ...what are you trying to say ..... what if we dont all think the way you do ,..... we all incapable of evening thinking for ourselves , how dare any one have an opinion that stretches beyond yours or disagree,s , and low and behold if our English doesn't match yours ,..
and this they have there tenants interests at heart .... think you prob meant shareholders and if that means not giving a dam about the city as a whole then so be it , and if you subscribe to that , that's entirely a personal decision ...be saying next utility companies care about there customers ....of course these are personal views
sainsburys help tescos , comment ...not for me to say owt about individual companies , but as you asked ..... i heard and not for me to say , as only hearsay and cant comment on these two as only heard secound hand ,... but i have heard in the past companies and am definatly not mentioning any companies , apparently help each other more then most think , someone was tell me sumfing the other day about price fixing .... cud this really happen ......”

“"and who the hell is any one to cherry pick a portion of a city that has a historic past to decide there little bit of england deserves to flourish" Simple answer - the people that OWN it - ultimately they are ONLY interested in the success of their tenants. Would you, for example, expect Sainsburys to do anything to help Tescos?

There you go, I didn't "divulge of subject" - but that's about all I understood”
