PUPILS at a Mid-Devon primary school took on youngsters from across the world in an international online maths competition.

Hayward's Primary School in Crediton took part in the World Cup of Math, which gave participants the world over a point for every maths question answered correctly within 60 seconds.

Throughout the day, the organisers, education group 3P Learning, aimed to "prove maths can be exciting".

Maths co-ordinator at the school Mark Bailey said: "We put a rota on the ICT suite and children aged five-11 took part in the challenge.

"It was a great chance for children to not only enhance their maths skills, but also to interact with pupils from other countries."
