REAL ale enthusiasts are being encouraged to follow the Tarka Line Rail Ale Trail following its re-launch.

The scheme, which features 17 pubs, promotes travel by train to real ale pubs close to stations on the scenic branch line between Exeter and Barnstaple.

Rebecca Catterall, from the Rail Partnership, said: "The Rail Ale Trail is a great way to discover some fantastic pubs in towns and villages in Devon's heartland at the same time as experiencing this picturesque local railway."

Rail Ale Guides can be picked up from staffed railway stations, information centres, or from the Rail Partnership by calling 01752 233094.
